Data processed
When you visit the site the following data is processed:
- IP address of the requesting device (transient, used for geolocation, see below)
- Browser / user-agent string (truncated to 200 characters)
- Requested page (URL path) and its title
- Referring page (referrer), if sent by your browser (truncated to 500 characters)
- Timestamp of the request (UTC)
From the IP address, the following geo-information is derived via the third-party processor named below and logged: country, country code (ISO-3166), city.
Storage and retention
Visit logs are stored in monthly files on Mirus Technologies GmbH's server. The IP address itself is notstored in the visit log. For technical reasons the mapping "IP → geo information" is cached locally (data/geo_cache.json); this cache rolls automatically once it reaches 10,000 entries.
Transfer to third parties
To resolve the IP address into a coarse geographic location, the IP address is transferred toip-api.com (IP-API.com, Sydney, Australia). No EU adequacy decision is currently in place for Australia; the transfer is performed on the basis of the legitimate interest in evaluating website usage. The ip-api.com privacy policy is available atip-api.com/docs/legal.
Purpose
The data is processed solely for statistical purposes, evaluating reach and improving the website. No profiling or advertising targeting takes place.
Legal basis
The legal basis is Mirus Technologies GmbH's legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (and the corresponding provision of DSG-FL) in providing a stable, well-designed website.
